There are three local pubs, all providing catering, two pony trekking centres, an excellent indoor climbing centre, a diving centre, a post office, lake and mountain walks, a bird hide and many footpath links.

Because we have the Black Mountains on one side of us and the Brecon Beacons on the other, hill walking, climbing, rambling, caving and even hand- gliding are activities which are all available in the surrounding area.

Renowned as the Town of Books, Hay-on-Wye boasts the largest second hand book shop in the world. It also has many antique and unusual craft shops plus a Tawny Owl Animal Park.
